Tea is the most popular beverage in the world after water. From Asia to Europe tea is enjoyed both hot and cold. "Drinking tea is essentially replacing fluid. Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants, so it's got two things going for it." Quote Dr. Carrie Ruxton. Consuming four cups of tea a day allows maximum health benefits. Even three cups a day reduces risk of heart attack by 11 percent. Drinking tea helps boost the immune system and strengthen teeth and bones. It also aids in blocking LDL (bad) cholesterol and increasing HDL (good) cholesterol, which improves artery function. The essential oils in tea leaves help digestion, and green tea is even thought to aid in weight loss.

Thomas Lipton acquired tea estates in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and organized packaging and transportation at low cost to sell his teas "direct from the tea garden to the tea pot". Lipton teas were an immediate success in the US. Thomas Lipton was knighted by Queen Victoria, who made him Sir Thomas Lipton in 1898 at the age of fifty-eight.
